Exploring Cuba 2022

2022 Winter dates TBA

Cost: from $1695 per person. Based on double occupancy. Single supplement available upon request.

Cuba reopened to tourism as of November 15, 2021, and almost all residents have
been vaccinated for Covid. We will continue to communicate with our guide to
see how things unfold as they welcome visitors to their country again and keep an
eye on available flights from the US. If all goes well, we will be able to lead a tour
in April of 2022.

If you are interested in joining us on this educational/cultural tour please contact us asap so we can reserve your spot.

We are anxious to resume photo tours in Cuba as soon as we are able. This will be a wonderful opportunity to get a taste of what Cuba has to offer in terms of culture & history, street photography, tropical beaches, and lush mountain waterfalls. We will be leading a group of up to 10 people and will have a local guide and a driver as well. Colin has traveled to Cuba three years consecutively and led photo tours the last two. He is very familiar with all of the places we will be visiting, including the cities and national parks, and has developed close connections with the locals, notably our Guide, Gelin, as well as the majority of our hosts and tour operators.

The tours will begin in Havana and guests will have the option of attending either an 8-day tour for $1,695 (two nights in Havana, two nights in both Cienfuegos & Trinidad, returning to Havana for the final night) or a 10-day tour for $1,995 (includes two days in the beautiful, mountainous farming community of Viñales and return to Havana).

Day 1

Everyone arrives in Havana. Our guide will pick you up at the airport as soon as you leave customs and take you via taxi to the casa where we will be staying. If possible, one of us will be at the airport to meet you as well. Once everyone has arrived, we will walk to a few sites around the city and go out for dinner.

Day 2

Explore Havana by foot in the morning and take a classic car tour of the city in the afternoon. From the cars and architecture to the culture and vibrancy, there is no shortage of photo ops in Havana!

Day 3

Travel to Playa Larga, Bay of Pigs, for a snorkeling tour. The water is very clear and we will see tropical fish and a shipwreck from the Bay of Pigs Battle. Even if you don’t take underwater photos, the experience alone is worth it. After snorkeling we will have lunch and visit the Bay of Pigs Military Museum. We will then drive to Cienfuegos and stay there for the next two nights.

Day 4

Travel to El Nicho Park and hike to the numerous waterfalls & cave and swim in the pools. We will have lunch in El Nicho and then visit the Rancho Luna Beach for a swim and photograph the sunset.

Day 5

Travel to Güajimico to snorkel in the morning, then to Trinidad for two nights. Go to the beach for sunset.

Day 6

Visit a coffee plantation in the mountains near Trinidad (Topes de Callantes) and hike to Vegas Grande, Cuba’s tallest waterfall to once again go swimming. In the afternoon we will go for a horseback riding/farm tour in the countryside.

Day 7

Possible short hike & swim in El Cubano Park before driving back to Havana for the final night of the 8-day tour.

Day 8

Breakfast at the casa and then to airport for departures. For those on the 10-day tour, we will travel to Viñales for two nights.

Day 9

Guided hike into the mountains to photograph the sunrise over Viñales Valley. Afternoon/sunset guided walking tour of local farms.

Day 10

Return to Havana for afternoon departures. If no afternoon flights are available, we will arrange another night of lodging in Havana for you and departure the following day.
